OUR CHURCH HISTORY
New Creation Ministries (NCM) was founded through open air outreach in January 1997, and these outreaches were called Vula Amasango (Open Doors). The purpose was to reach out to the people of Diepsloot Informal settlement that time. Many people gave their lives to Christ and chose to become members of New Creation Ministries. After 3 months we rented a classroom at Muzomuhle Primary School in Ext 2 of Diepsloot. We then moved to a 500 seater tent at Ext 2 in April same year.
In April 1999 the 500-seater tent became too small and growth was evident. Dedicated members gave offerings, and we bought an extended 250 seater tent and the two tents were able to accommodate 750 people. Challenges were many yet God pulled the ministry through them all. By the end of 1999 the old tent kept falling all the time (sometimes it fell on Sundays during services). During that time people were taught the word and were encouraged to depend entirely upon God and to reach out to the lost and needy. In January 2000 after prayers and brainstorming we took a decision to put a church structure where our vision could best be realized. The bible clearly states that “the just shall live by faith.”
In July 2000 we took a risk by emptying the church’s bank account to buy a vacant site in Diepsloot Ext 6. This is the very same space where Bishop Andrew Mopereo (the founder of the mnistry) used to pray for Diepsloot community. Looking at a vacant piece of land with only grass in it was a bit demoralizing but Bishop saw something big out of nothing. The purpose of the site inspired the members of the church to start contributing everything possible towards the buildings project. Some of the members sacrificed with their salaries, their time and the building project took off. The ground was cleared and the construction of steel structure commenced. That was indeed a tough decision as the majority of people in Diepsloot were unemployed and some low-income earners.
As the leader, Bishop encouraged everyone not to lose hope but to trust in the Lord and to remain focused. He motivated people to believe God for greater things and to take comfort in the understanding that with God all things are possible.

The name of the church was derived from 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old is gone and the new has come.” New Creation Ministries is where things become new.
